Picture Updates of The Annex in the RiverSouth District

It took me a while to get these posted, but here are some pics from last weekend's run. Most show the progress of the building but the one I like the best is the first one here of the Lazarus Building. This building is directly across the street from The Annex. You can see in the top right corner that you are only a 1/2 block away from City Center a.k.a. the new spot for Columbus Commons. Having that outside your door will be a huge asset.

The Next Great Place to Live in Columbus

I said it in my original post and I stick by it, the best way to see a city is to run through it. If you are in a car there is no way you could appreciate the next great place to live in Columbus. You would drive right by it and not realize the views it will have or the things that are going up around it. The place I'm talking about is "The Annex in the RiverSouth District".

First let me start by saying I didn't have my camera this time, but I plan on running by again this weekend and I'll update this post with pics.

The Annex sits right in the middle of nearly every project the city is working on. Within 3 blocks you have:

  • The new Main Street Bridge
  • Columbus Commons (less than a block away)
  • The new RiverSouth Parking Garage
  • The new Franklin County Courthouse
  • The renovated Lazarus Building
  • The new Scioto Mile

Everything listed above is within easy walking distance and are currently being worked on. Imagine waking up on a Saturday and spending the day at Columbus Commons (1 block away) and then on Sunday hitting up the Scioto Mile (again, 1 block away). Also, I don't think people realize, currently, a good portion of the units will have excellent views of the river/parks. And here's the best part, these units are priced to be affordable to young professionals.

The piece that I love, that I think is sometimes overlooked, is that you are directly across the street from the Lazarus building. If you have not seen the Lazurus building up close you might not think this a big deal, but I highly suggest stopping by it. It is amazing and you can see why it won national awards. Plus the ground floor is geared toward retail, and while the spots are not filled yet, if the statement "business follows people" is true, I can't see this staying vacant for long.

At first I was skeptical about this development, but I now see that this could be the spark downtown needs. With a couple hundred people living in the heart of the city within the next couple months, I see big changes coming.

Jackson, Neighborhood Launch, and Huntington Park Updates

One of my favorite runs is to shoot down past the new Huntington Park Stadium, up the Scioto mile, around Neighborhood Launch (4th and Gay Streets) and down High. You get to see all three of my favorite projects going on right now. I brought my camera this time to snap some pics of each, sorry it was overcast out, but enjoy.

Hello!

Welcome to my blog, The Columbus Runner. This blog will talk about the two things I'm most interested in; running and city development.

You might wonder how those two things fit together. I feel the best way to see the city is to take a run through it. You never have to worry about one way streets or traffic and you can get a great workout in while seeing what the city has to offer. As you can tell, I currently live in Columbus, Ohio. Its a great up-and-coming city with a lot to offer and I'm hoping to highlight some of those things here.

Today I plan on running by the new condo going up in Short North called 'The Jackson', so I'm sure I'll be making my first 'real' post soon. I should have some pictures to go along with it too.
